2023 at Treseren | A Year of Magical Small Weddings in Cornwall

By 31 December 2023 January 19th, 2024 No Comments

Just like that, another year is over. Before we look ahead to 2024 and all that it has in store, we can’t leave 2023 behind without taking a moment to look back on what has been another year of magical small weddings at Treseren. We always love sharing real wedding stories, and if you follow us on Instagram you will know that we can never resist sharing behind the scenes photos and videos!

We are so very lucky to be a part of so many weddings, and the excitement on a wedding day is just unbeatable. Every Treseren wedding is unique and we love helping couples put their own stamp on their celebration. From cosy family elopements to some seriously competitive table tennis, here is just a little inspiration from a fabulous year…

Sophie and Matt

Sophie and Matt celebrated their elopement wedding with their two children Rio and Gus, and we were delighted to witness their ceremony. On a beautifully crisp winter’s day, it was just wonderful to be a part of this special family celebration.

‘You welcomed our family like it was your own and every single detail was so thoughtful and special. Treseren and all the team will forever hold a special place in our lives, we feel blessed to have been the first wedding of the year and for all the love and kindness you showed us. Treseren – the most magical place in which time stands still and where love, kindness and pure joy spill from every inch of its grounds. A place of tranquility and pure bliss’

Louise and Jono

Our first outdoor ceremony of the year, Louise and Jono enjoyed the glorious Cornish springtime with a magical front lawn ceremony. With a full line up of bridesmaids and groomsmen, we loved that Louise and Jono decided to keep lots of the traditional details of a larger wedding but perfectly proportioned for a Treseren celebration.

‘We couldn’t have wished for a more perfect day, thank you all so, so much for making it the most wonderful and stress-free time. From viewing the venue to arriving on the Monday and to our wedding day, it has just been incredible. Everyone that works here has been so lovely and accommodating and have made us feel so at home. We have made memories to last us a lifetime! Treseren will always hold the most special place in our hearts. We have had the happiest of times here, made even more special with the beautiful weather and being able to share it with our family’

Arianna and Jesse

Arianna and Jesse and their family and friends travelled from six US states and three different countries to celebrate with us at Treseren and we so enjoyed virtual wedding planning with Arianna and her mum Lesley to create an English country garden wedding to remember. Whilst the typically English weather meant most of the celebrating took place inside, The Wedding Room was transformed into a fairytale ceremony space and Arianna and Jesse fully embraced being whisked away to the beach for some truly Wuthering Heights-esque photography.

‘Travelling all the way from the states to elope at Treseren, I can truly say it was worth it and I would recommend this location to anyone for their wedding! Treseren is a hidden gem, and one of the most magical and romantic places to get married. From start to finish, Emma, Izzy and the team at Treseren will take all of your wedding planning worries away and make the process incredibly smooth. I cannot begin to even express just how perfect our wedding was’

Luise and Nina

Luise and Nina travelled from Austria with four of their closest friends for their magical micro wedding, with the most romantic ceremony under the dappled light of our 200 year old walnut tree. With a champagne tower, two beach visits, a decadent tasting menu and the most competitive game of table tennis we have ever seen, this was a celebration bursting with joy and we loved every second.

‘We always knew we wanted an intimate wedding, just simple, lovely and with our best friends, but still on the highest level. We also knew we wanted to have beach pictures in our dresses! So after looking for venues in Greece, France and Italy, we sent each other Treseren within 10 minutes of looking in different countries and fell in love. We are so happy we chose this place, surrounded by our chosen family – we wouldn’t change anything. We fell in love with Treseren, and we will return!’

Mark and Charlotte

Mark and Charlotte’s wedding was a wonderfully relaxed family celebration, their beautiful front lawn ceremony was followed by a drinks reception with music from Scenic Route and a woodfired feast served on the terrace. It was really important to Mark and Charlotte that their dog Bobby was really well looked after on the day, so we enlisted the help of Katie from Wedding Day Dog Nanny to ensure that this was the case.

‘From the moment we enquired with Treseren, we knew this venue was the one for us. We travelled from East Yorkshire to get married here and the almost 9 hour drive was more than worth it, from the moment we arrived it was full of magical moments. One of the biggest points for me to mention is the fact that Treseren is completely dog friendly, we couldn’t have got married without our Bobby with us and to have him share all three days at Treseren with us meant the world to us. Treseren truly have thought about everything to make the planning process so easy and stress free. I really hope we get to visit the venue again on one of our holidays to Cornwall, it will forever hold a very special place in our hearts’

Lucy and Ryan

We always love an autumn wedding and Lucy and Ryan embraced the season with a beautiful burnt orange and red colour scheme. The couple’s adorable son Arthur fell in love with the Treseren toy car and impressed everybody with his driving skills, while talented musician Ruth Wall kept everyone entertained with her skills on both the harp and the piano. Lucy and Ryan had their hearts set on a walnut tree ceremony and we were so delighted that the October weather played along – with everyone appreciating the roaring log fire to warm up around as the afternoon celebrations continued into the evening.

‘We had a wonderful weekend full of love, smiles and laughter. What more can you ask for? The perfect place, perfect house and perfect hosts’

Alongside magical wedding celebrations, a big highlight for us this year was winning a prestigious award! We were absolutely delighted to be announced as the Southwest Historic Wedding Venue of the Year at The Wedding Industry Awards in November, with some of the team travelling to Bristol for the awards ceremony. As a small wedding venue, this accolade really does mean so much to us, and the fact that it was our lovely couples that voted for us to become finalists makes it all the more special. As always, we will look to build on this success and have lots of exciting plans in the pipeline that we look forward to sharing with you.

We feel so lucky to play a part in such a momentous occasion in people’s lives and to bring laughter, love and celebration to our special corner of Cornwall. Here’s to another year of magical small weddings in 2024!
