This year, we nervously entered The Wedding Industry Awards. We knew from research and conversation with our fellow wedding professionals that these awards are highly regarded in the wedding world, and we felt that now was the right time for us to enter.
‘Now in its 12th year, TWIA recognises and rewards excellence in the wedding industry and helps couples all over the country make better educated decisions when booking their wedding suppliers.’ – Damian Bailey, TWIA Founder
The Judging Process
Once our application was complete, we contacted the couples that got married at Treseren between 10th October 2022 and 2nd October 2023 – as it was these lovely people that determined whether we became finalists! Rather than just clicking ‘vote’, we were asking these couples to fill out a detailed set of questions about their wedding experience with us and we cannot express our gratitude enough for them taking the time to do this. It means so much to us that we continue our relationships with Treseren couples long after the wedding day is over, and they really do become part of the Treseren family.
We were so thrilled in October when we were announced as finalists in the Historic Building Wedding Venue category. Our wonderful couples had got us this far, and we were now amongst a selection of amazing venues that would go to the judging panel.
The Awards Night
The Awards Night took place on Monday 20th November at Aldwick Estate near Bristol and a small number of the team made the journey from Cornwall. It was a wonderful experience to be surrounded by so many amazing wedding industry professionals and the room was bursting with excitement and anticipation. We nervously took our seats as the awards presentation began and we had lots of time for the nerves to build as our category was 21 in the list!
We were all so absolutely delighted when Treseren was read out as the winner of the Historic Building Wedding Venue category and we cannot express how proud we feel of what we have created here, in this special corner of Cornwall. We feel lucky to be the current custodians of this historic building and part of our ethos is to weave new magic into the spirit of place with the heartfelt vows, love and marriage that are now celebrated within these walls. As a small wedding venue, we are very aware that to be given this recognition is a really big achievement. It means so much to be recognised by the entire region for what we do and we are beyond honoured. Congratulations to all of the other finalists and winners – what a wonderful night celebrating what the South West does best.
We celebrated the amazing news with a bottle of Aldwick Estate Sparkling Wine and toasted the entire Treseren team – people are at the heart of Treseren and each and every member of our team is dedicated to delivering excellent service and attention to detail in what they do. We would not be an award-winning venue without them.
We had such a great time at the awards event and we must give a special mention to Adam James Reeves, a very talented close-up magician who had us all speechless as he performed impossible mind reading tricks which culminated in discovering a folded up card marked with the word ‘Treseren’ in his phone case (Jude Law is relevant too…). We all wanted to hire him for a Treseren celebration immediately!
A big congratulations to our fellow Cornish suppliers Flicksbox, who were the very deserving winners of the Photo and Video Entertainment category. We are now finalists in the National Event which takes place in London in January. Heralded as ‘the biggest night in the UK wedding industry’, we can’t wait!
