Celebrating Small and Beautiful Weddings
We love the phrase we have seen popping up on different Instagram feeds in the past few weeks that “love is not cancelled” and we wanted to share some inspiration from a beautiful wedding that took place at Treseren last summer on a beautiful, blue sky day.
Tamara and Chris wanted to bring close family and friends together for a relaxed ceremony and celebration accompanied by their family dog, Hachi.
This was a small wedding, but big on atmosphere and style.
Getting Ready
Tamara chose to spend some really special time with her mum and sister, Mariam in the lead up to her wedding. This started the day before, with all three of them arriving at Treseren to tea and cake. They told Emma the next morning at breakfast, that they had cracked open a bottle of Prosecco in the evening and were dancing around the kitchen. We love that they had such a special evening together.
On the morning of the wedding, before the Groom and the wedding party arrived, Tamara, Mariam and their mum got ready in our master suite, Middleton. It was such a lovely atmosphere, with the sisters side by side doing their own make-up and their mum’s hair, and a little champagne to add to the excitement ahead.
Tamara chose the most beautiful Savin London dress and she looked simply stunning. Her sister Mariam looked gorgeous in her outfit and we loved the bond between these two. It already felt like a really special day, and the main guests had not even arrived yet!
Guests gathering
The wedding was a truly International affair with Tamara’s family originally from Georgia and some guests flying in from Europe joining Chris’s family from Cornwall and the South West.
It was lovely to see all the guests gathering and enjoying the spaces to relax in the house and gardens ahead of the ceremony.
There was a lovely buzz and sense of anticipation, as Cat from Tide Flowers was busy creating a beautiful floral installation on the terrace above the front doors, and guest of honour, Hachi arrived full of energy after his journey.
The Ceremony
In true traditional style, Tamara’s father accompanied her to her ceremony. As it was such a beautiful and warm day, Tamara and Chris had opted for an al fresco ceremony on the Terrace at Treseren with stunning flower arch over the french doors created by Cat from Tide Flowers.
Our outdoor flowing ceremonies on the terrace enable a couple to enjoy the setting under the shade sail, stepping in to the licensed wedding room to say their legal words and sign the register. It worked beautifully framed by the flower arch.
Treseren has been one of the pioneering venues working with Cornwall Registration service to create flowing outdoor – indoor ceremonies. Such a wonderful way to hold your ceremony, the best of both worlds.
Special Touches
Tamara had hand dried rose petals to create her own confetti, which she presented in individual little boxes and Mariam handed out just before the ceremony.
Emma captured a little video clip of the moments it was thrown at the end of the ceremony.
The Reception
A gorgeous, relaxed reception in the gardens followed, with canapés by Treseren accompanied by sunshine, champagne and laughter.
Later, we set up the long table in the dining room so the entire wedding party could come together to share a gourmet barbecue cooked up by Indulgence Catering. It was a relaxed and lovely meal option, and rather than sitting on tables dotted around the garden for their barbecue, Tamara and Chris were really keen to bring everybody together to share the meal and share time together. It worked so well. Tamara had created home made favours – little sweets in small jars and made her own wax seal for these.
All the wine had been specially selected by Tamara’s father from their native Georgia. He gave the Treseren team a glass to try, and we can confirm the red was absolutely delicious!
Following some brilliant speeches, Tamara threw her bouquet and then the party continued with dancing and fun in to the small hours.
The Wedding of their Dreams
We loved the vibrancy and warm atmosphere of this wedding and we are so glad that Chris and Tamara had, in their words, the wedding of their dreams.
When Tamara wrote in our Guest Book, she attached a photo of herself and Christopher along with her lovely message.
“Emma, Paul and the whole team, you have made our special day BEAUTIFUL. An amazing venue with a team that truly cared about all the little details that made our BIG day and stay a memorable experience. Our wedding day was absolutely what we desired and our dream came true with your help.
Many, many thanks to you all for making us feel at home”
Love Christopher and Tamara”
Tamara and Christopher’s Story and Reflections on their Day
We caught up with Tamara to ask her as she reflects on their special day, what the highlights were for her and Christopher and a little bit about their story.
- Would you mind sharing a few details of how you and Christopher met and the story of your engagement?
Christopher and I first met whilst I was at a bar with a friend on the 23rd of February. Some mutual friends happened to be at the same bar where Christopher and I got talking. Wasn’t long before we hit the floor dancing and spent the evening enjoying each others company getting to know one another. A few days later Christopher invited me out for a date at a beautiful spot in Bristol. We have been inseparable ever since. Last year on February the 23rd Christopher asked me to become his wife!
- When you first got engaged, what were you hoping for from your wedding day?
When we got engaged we both knew that what we wanted was a wedding day with a real difference, which allowed all those close to our hearts to enjoy the special moments together with us. It was important to us to find a venue where we would have felt exclusive, comfortable and of course with plenty of green surroundings. We decided on a date straight away for September which was in 7 months time! We knew we had to be very organised and quick to make it all happen.
- What drew you to Treseren as your venue?
Whilst searching, we came across many ‘intimate wedding venues’ offering venues with a minimum of a 100 guests. We wanted something even more intimate with a maximum of 30 guests, this way we could spend quality time with everyone there. We came across Treseren on Petite Weddings and just by looking at the venue online we felt that it offered everything we dreamed of which was hard to believe! After arranging a visit to the venue we knew that it was perfect for us and that Emma would have been the perfect host to our wedding day. Previously I didn’t think that it was possible to find a wedding venue so exclusive where you would only have you and your guests around you even overnight! Indeed Emma was able to offer us a date and made the planning for our wedding day truly seamless. She was very knowledgeable and got us in touch with all the relevant parties for all the extras that we chose for our wedding day. Everything was coming together very quickly in a short space of time which meant that we could plan our honeymoon too!
- Please can you let us know the highlights of your day and stay at Treseren?
The whole time at Treseren is a highlight to Christopher and I. We very often reminisce and talk about the day with our family and friends and of course we view our portfolio of photographs captured beautifully by Paul.
I often remember all the beautiful features of Shepherds house and its gardens and feel so lucky to have been surrounded by such beautiful scenes on our special day.My family have said that we ought to return to Treseren for other experiences too. Everyone enjoyed their own space within the house and said they truly felt at home with the warm welcome of Emma Paul and the team at Treseren. Mum and dad often say that our wedding was certainly special.
- Can you pick out your best memory of your day?
The best memory from the day would definitely have to be when my father and I walked through the gorgeous archway and I saw everybody with Christopher waiting at the alter!
Thank you to Tamara and Christopher for being part of this Journal feature.
We wish them every happiness for their future together.
