We’ve had an amazing year of small weddings at Treseren, and our new covered terrace has been a big feature of many of these beautiful celebrations. We were determined to make the most of our time during lockdowns and the creation of this new space was one of our exciting projects. If you follow us on Instagram then you may have already seen some of the journey – you can always catch up on our IGTV.
The terrace was designed to be a great sociable space for wedding guests, and in the initial stages of coming out of lockdown, to be a great space for alfresco hospitality so everybody could safely celebrate. After the initial slab laying, we asked George from C and G Gardens to design a planting scheme that would bring the area to life and a selection of beautiful silver grasses, purple verbena and chocolate mint were planted by Treseren gardener Justin. The stretch tent from Cool Canvas makes this space so versatile, providing a wet weather contingency whilst still enjoying the atmosphere of the gardens beyond. It has also become a welcome shady spot on exceptionally hot wedding days (which we had a number of this summer!).
Ceremonies
For many of the couples who have said ‘I do’ at Treseren this year, the covered terrace was installed after initially choosing Treseren as their venue, so it has provided an exciting new possible scenario for their wedding days. When Ellen and Tom arrived the day before their wedding day, they decided that they loved the space so much that this was where they wanted their ceremony to take place. The purple verbena walkway created a beautiful aisle for flower girl Tess and Maid of Honour Lucy to begin proceedings, followed by Ellen and her dad Hugh. Emily from Three Acre Blooms created a beautiful floral installation facing out towards the walnut tree and there was plenty of room for guests to be seated comfortably. With the recent change in outdoor wedding rules, the register signing was also able to take place on the terrace, which worked wonderfully. Ellen and Tom’s utterly gorgeous wedding has been inspiration for many since, and we have now held a number of wonderful ceremonies on the new terrace.
Al Fresco Dining and Drinks Receptions
We had always envisioned the new terrace as being the perfect spot for outside dining, and we have been delighted to see this in action this summer. From relaxed barbeques to fine dining tasting menus, it’s wonderful to extend the celebrations into the evening lit by twinkling fairy lights. The space lends itself to a ‘U shaped’ seating plan which brings everyone together for sociable dining. The terrace has also been a wonderful option for afternoon drinks receptions, with relaxed seating perfect for chatting in between games of croquet and table tennis!
