Micro Weddings, Intimate Weddings and Elopement Weddings

By 8 May 2022 No Comments

We’re experts at hosting small weddings in Cornwall and there are three different types of ‘small wedding packages’ that we offer – Intimate Weddings, Micro Weddings and Elopement Weddings. But exactly what is the difference?

What is an elopement wedding at Treseren?

Eloping traditionally meant running away to marry in secret, and whilst the air of secrecy is totally optional, elopement weddings at Treseren are just for two. Wedding couples have exclusive use of the entire house and gardens and enjoy a two-night bed and breakfast stay. We will help you put a team of amazing suppliers together and you can add as little or as much detail as you like. Whether you want to enjoy fine dining by a talented local chef or have fish and chips on the beach (with champagne of course), anything goes, and we love that no two elopement weddings are ever the same. On the day, we will be there every step of the way, from buttoning up wedding dresses to pinning on buttonholes and throwing confetti. For the legal side of things, you will need two witnesses to sign the marriage register which is a job we are always delighted and honoured to do.

Amanda and Nigel eloped to Treseren in November and said ‘I do’ alongside flickering candelight and beautiful seasonal flowers in the Drawing Room. They fully embraced the autumnal atmosphere and visited Holywell Bay with their photographer before returning to Treseren for cocktails in Loveday’s Bar, followed by a fine dining feast.

What is a Micro Wedding at Treseren?

Micro Weddings at Treseren are a magical celebration for up to 12 people. Everybody is accommodated at the venue and enjoys a two-night bed and breakfast stay with exclusive use of the house and gardens. Guests arrive the day before the wedding and enjoy our unique blend of five-star service in a home from home atmosphere, with homemade cake followed by a welcome feast and wine to settle in. Our in-house wedding planners will put a dream-team of suppliers together and co-ordinate on the day so you can enjoy celebrating with your closest loved ones knowing that the fine details are in safe hands.

Lisa and Bob’s July Micro Wedding was a fun-filled celebration with 9 of their closest friends and family. The ceremony took place in the Wedding Room and the wedding party then flowed outside for confetti and enjoyed champagne on the lawn before a relaxed Spanish tapas feast on the covered terrace.

What is an Intimate Wedding at Treseren?

Intimate Weddings at Treseren encompass the same magic as Micro Weddings but are longer, weekend long celebrations with a three-night bed and breakfast stay. 12 people are accommodated at the venue and an additional 10 guests stay nearby and join the wedding celebrations for the day. Arriving on the Friday to a welcome feast and departing on the Monday after breakfast gives you and your closest loved ones plenty of quality time together, with an additional day after the wedding for exploring our beautiful location on the North Cornwall coast before returning to your very own country retreat.

Clair and Aaron shared their intimate wedding celebration with 20 of their closest friends and family. Our 200-year-old walnut tree was the perfect shaded spot for their ceremony in the heat of the July afternoon and there was fierce competition to catch the bouquet! Garden games on the front lawn were enjoyed into the evening and whilst guests enjoyed the entertainment, the couple were whisked away to Holywell Bay with their photographer. The day after the wedding, the wedding party made the most of the Cornish sunshine and spent the day at the beach before returning to Treseren for their final evening.

Smaller weddings are often booked with less planning time than larger weddings and whilst it is very possible to plan a small wedding in a short timeframe, it is important to remember that for a legal ceremony you must ‘give notice’ to marry at your local registry office at least 29 days before your wedding day. A small wedding can absolutely still be big on style and we always encourage couples to make choices based on what they really want for their day, regardless of size – so if you have always dreamed of a moongate floral arch then we say go for it. Perhaps you don’t want to wear traditional wedding outfits at all, or you would like bespoke cocktails instead of champagne – we are here to rise to the challenge and make your small wedding dreams a reality!
