It has been all systems go at Treseren headquarters lately, neatly packaging up our intimate weddings and boutique stays offerings to share with you all, and launching our wonderful new website. So, we jumped at the opportunity last weekend to take a step back and indulge in some special festive preparations.
Talented sisters Emily and Lucy of 3acre Blooms are expert flower growers, floral designers and stylists – based near Treseren in the beautiful Cornish countryside. We were lucky enough to secure a spot on their only wreath workshop this year at the beautiful Trevibban Mill Vineyard – greeted by warming mulled wine and mince pies on arrival, the scene could not have been more idyllic.
Emily and Lucy joyfully shared their knowledge with our small group of eager students, and provided a wonderful array of dried flowers and fresh foliage from their cutting gardens to adorn each of our creations.
Vines from the vineyard had been lovingly prepared into wreath bases for us, and we got to work securing eucalyptus and ‘wonder foliage’ interspersed with dried grasses and wonderfully vibrant pink peppercorns. The final flourish was a sprinkling of dried orange slices and a gold bow – it is Christmas after all!
It was something of wonderment to see how each individual wreath came to life in a completely different form to its neighbour – and we all became lost in the relaxing motions of creativity.
The wonderful thing about the materials that Emily and Lucy so thoughtfully gathered is that these wreaths don’t have to just be for Christmas. The green foliage will naturally dry, and we will be replacing the orange slices and gold ribbon with seasonal updates when spring unfurls.
Emily and Lucy are taking a break from 3acre Blooms in the new year, but we will be keeping our eyes peeled for their next adventures – and so hope that their beautiful floral arrangements will one day find their way to Treseren!
