A Winter Wonderland | Celtic & Co Photoshoot

We had a very exciting day at the beginning of the year, as Cornish clothing brand Celtic & Co transformed Treseren into a winter wonderland for their Christmas 2020 photoshoot. The campaign has now been released and we can finally share this magical story with you.

Shepherds House makes the perfect backdrop for photoshoots, with its slate hung façade and entrance pillars leading through to the original interior detailing and contemporary soft white and grey colour palette. Combined with the rustic grade II listed barn and sprawling lawns, it makes for endless photo opportunities and we’ve enjoyed hosting some great companies over the years – we will always remember when our daughter Georgia starred in the Mini Boden shoot! This, however, was the very first time that the house and gardens have been transformed with artificial snow!

Snow Business, the team behind this marvel are experts in making everyday a snow day – they’ve been creating epic snow scenes for over thirty years, working on a whole range of projects, from Notting Hill and Harry Potter to everybody’s favourite Christmas adverts. We so enjoyed watching the team at work and loved learning more about how the process works. The ‘snow’ is made from a plant fibre similar to paper and is applied through a hose with a high-pressure water pump so that it settles naturally on the trees and bushes. The team took away the majority of the snow after the shoot, but we were glad to know that any remaining patches would naturally disperse and dissolve. This is great from an environmental point of view and also from a conservation perspective – using the wrong materials on ancient stone or rare flora could result in permanent damage, so their snow is designed to vanish without a trace – just like the real thing.

‘We’re obsessed with recreating the magic of the natural world, so we have no desire to spoil it.’

As the first company to create snow from recycled paper, sustainability has always been at the heart of Snow Business and they are always looking at ways that they can do more – from using biodegradable packaging to installing renewable energy solar panels at their HQ. It’s important to us that we work with businesses that are dedicated to sustainable practices and we knew that we could rely on Celtic & Co to have that covered!

Why we love Celtic & Co

Celtic & Co. design and create contemporary clothing and footwear using the finest natural fibres, and they are based just a short drive from Treseren in the heart of Newquay. We love their signature combination of style and sustainability and want to buy everything from the new collection! Specialising in handcrafting quality sheepskin products, the company was founded over 30 years ago, with husband and wife Nick and Kath and their daughter Clare still at the helm today.

The family are passionate about the sustainability of the business and their impact on the environment, which is why they only use natural, organic materials and keep their supply chain as local as possible. Their iconic sheepskin boots are still made in Newquay, by their highly skilled team.

‘We’ve been flying the flag for renewable and sustainable slow fashion since we started, over 30 years ago. We are pioneers of the slow fashion movement and create investment clothing for your wardrobe, pieces for life, rather than throw-away styles just for the now.’
