Our Story, by Emma
Paul quite literally swept me off my feet 20 years ago in Padstow. A talented film maker, with a background in advertising and television production, Paul had just come back from travelling the World. I had just finished my degree in Theatre Studies.
Our shared creative passions took us on a journey back to London where Paul returned to the media and I embarked on a career at the BBC. Fast forward 10 years and we found ourselves back in Padstow, with the imminent arrival of our son, Max. I quite literally went from the BBC to a B&B, directing live studios at Television Centre one minute and cooking eggs and bacon the next!
We were really proud of our Padstow bed and breakfasts, created from two Edwardian houses, one of which was completely derelict when we first viewed it. We went on to win awards and many plaudits from interiors and travel writers, with Treann House featuring in the Telegraph and Observer, inclusion in the Michelin Guide, the number one Trip Advisor spot in Padstow and ranked in the top 10 B&Bs in the UK by the Sunday Times Travel.
When looking for a new project near to the North coast, we came across Treseren and promptly fell in love!
At its heart, Shepherds House is a Georgian gem with beautiful light and proportions and plenty of history. The beauty of the house is matched by its private and generous grounds, making it a really peaceful retreat, with lots of spaces to relax and play.
Our children love the great outdoors, and so for us this is the perfect place to be. Our little girl, Georgia was only just three when we moved and she adores collecting autumn treasures.
No strangers to renovating period houses, we were particularly excited about creating the look and feel at Treseren. We removed lots of what we can only describe as ‘crazy’ wallpaper and created a neutral backdrop of greys and whites, blended with vintage and modern pieces, original Cornish art and natural materials.
The next chapter…
For the last three years we have welcomed holiday guests, and we will continue to do so!
From 2019 we are adding the opportunity to enjoy Treseren as a beautiful wedding
venue, or your very own country house for celebrations. In our Padstow bed and breakfast days, we specialised in hosting special anniversaries and birthdays, honeymoons and we even helped to coordinate a marriage proposal on our balcony over breakfast! We love the joy of celebrations; our own wedding was filled with ingenuity, quirks, fun and love and we’re looking forward to welcoming couples who are searching for a special, intimate place to marry.
