Real Wedding | Meg and Jack’s Fairytale Cornwall Wedding

By 14 August 2021 No Comments

The turbulence of the ever-changing rules and regulations concerning weddings has been an almighty challenge for everyone in the wedding industry, and a huge positive to take away from the situation is how we have all pulled together to create magic where it may have seemed impossible. As a venue, we have worked closer than ever before with our wonderful couples, planning and replanning and replanning yet again.

We are full of admiration for the perseverance, excitement and ultimately determination that these couples have shown in their journey to finally becoming married and none more so than the effervescent Meg and Jack, who have become firm friends since we embarked on their wedding planning journey together. Sharing in the joy of their special day, together with their closest family will forever be a highlight in our wedding history, and we cannot thank them enough for sharing their beautiful love story with you today.

Words from the bride –

The proposal

We met through mutual friends, although I was with someone else at the time!
We didn’t get together straight away, we were friends for a few years first.
Jack proposed the day before we went on an amazing holiday to Mexico (because Jack didn’t want to take my ring through airport security (His words not mine!)

Planning the wedding

Originally, we wanted a bigger wedding of 160 people. However, like a lot of couples, due to the pandemic our original wedding was postponed and kicked into the long grass. It was really heart-breaking at the time. We then decided to change course and completely turn the whole day on its head and go away with our parents. This was quite frankly the best decision we ever made and still can’t quite believe it all worked out this way!

Finding your venue

Our original Wedding got the official push on the 2nd of November when we went into the second lockdown. We just felt like we had been bulldozed, we were so deflated and felt we had gotten so close only to have the rug pulled out from under our feet. We decided to take matters into our own hands and see what we could do about it. We wrote down a list of what it was about our day that was absolutely essential, and what we wouldn’t budge on and went from there.
Late one Friday night we came across a website called Petite Weddings and popped in our requirements. Treseren was the first venue that popped up and we immediately fell in love with it. We quickly spoke about it, then took a chance and phoned Emma that very night.
She gave us a virtual walk around tour on the Saturday and the wedding was booked on the Sunday. We immediately just knew this was the place for us and instantly fell in love with Emma and the venue.

Ex Rick-Stein chef AJ Turner cooked your wedding meal – tell us all about it!

Where to start!
We cannot thank AJ Turner enough! His preparation, his thought process and his knowledge and skill really just made our decisions so easy. AJ put together a wonderful menu using seasonal goods expressing to us in detail what was in season and where everything was going to be locally sourced from. He was just fantastic, the food was incredible and above all just a wonderful person who helped us along our way.

Highlights of the day

How can you even ask us this! That is the hardest question of all!?! Well… Being able to say this is my husband and this is my wife. However, in the same breath there were no highlights because the whole day was perfect from start to finish, the whole day felt like the highlight because the highs just kept coming! Which I can honestly say is down to Izzy, Emma and the rest of the team at Treseren who were faultless and on hand to help wherever and whenever they could. From the moment we arrived we felt weightless and that everything was going to be alright because we were in the right place.

Words of wisdom for couples considering a small wedding

Do it! Take the plunge! Don’t look back! This moment is for you two and you two alone.
If you want your nearest and dearest there have them but having the most intimate ceremony was incredible. Your wedding day is what you make of it and what you put into it along with the love and support from the wonderful venue team.
