Inspiration for a new fire pit area for toasting marshmallows
It’s been an exciting week at Treseren. We have been creating a special new area for a fire pit perfect for toasting marshmallows under the stars as the light fades. It’s the perfect way to end the day at an intimate wedding at Treseren. With that in mind, we identified a sheltered corner of the gardens opposite the main terrace – it’s such a picture perfect spot next to the Grade II listed barn, looking back to the main terrace and with a view across to the children’s organic play area. So at the heart of everything, connected but with its own special vibe which is just right for creating a cosy atmosphere for the evening next to the fire pit.
Constructing the fire pit terrace
We were really excited to find some gorgeous terracotta tiles which had once been part of the house, stored in the old barn. Laying them out in the garden, we loved the patina and rich depth of colour – the rustic red tones just right for a fire pit area. We had enough to create the edges of the new mini terrace for the fire pit, with an internal slated area.
Creating the seating
With the help of our son, Max, Paul set about creating an L shaped bench bespoke to the measurements of the tiled area. It will be able to seat eight people and there’s space to draw up extra chairs to create a lovely group setting. Paul even created a handy table in the middle of the bench with a slate top for drinks.
Bench seat and fire pit in place!
Here it is all finished. We love the seat cosied up with some cushions. All we need now is our guests and some twinkling stars!
Toasting Marshmallows
We can just imagine the conversations under the stars around the fire pit with our couples and their guests reflecting on their wedding day. The fun that will be had there will be so special – with plenty of hot chocolate and marshmallows of course!
We can’t wait to light the fires and get the atmosphere going at our next weddings coming up in August.
